GRIFFINS SCORE 90 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2020

WALNUT — For the first time since February 19, 2020, the Grossmont College Griffins scored 90+ points in a regulation game. However, they lost 105-99 to Mt. San Antonio College in the Gene Victor Memorial Classic. They will take on Glendale (CA) in the consolation final on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio. 

Four Griffins were in double figures for scoring led by Samuel Stewart IV who had 18 points. Brandon Tully and Amari Leflore each had 12 points and Tyrone Lester Jr with 10. 

Grossmont (0-2) is averaging 90 points per game so far this season. The Griffins were 26.9 percent from beyond the arc and 32.6 from the field. 

"Really proud of our guys," head coach Doug Weber said after the game. "I thought they played really hard, team effort. Sammy had a really good game tonight."
