Cuesta uses 3's and rebounds to topple Vaqueros, 80-53

Cuesta knocked down 10-23 from 3-point range in the opening half on Wednesday night and outrebounded SBCC 46-20 in an 80-53 win in San Luis Obispo.

The Cougars hit 13-39 triples in the WSC North contest and outscored the Vaqueros 39-9 from beyond the arc. Cuesta, which won the rebounding battle by a decisive 46-20 margin, led 48-24 at intermission.

Adrian Juilland-Johnson led the Vaqueros, hitting 8-of-15 shots for 18 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Carlos Arevalo added 13 points.

Ali Pacaci dropped in 5-13 from 3-point range and led five Cuesta players in double-figure scoring with 17 points and eight rebounds. Jacques Safra added 16 points and Connor Torell had 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Cuesta won for the sixth time in seven starts to improve to 8-10 and 2-0. The Vaqueros (1-16, 0-3) dropped their fifth in a row.

SBCC has a bye on Saturday, then hosts Hancock on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
