SHASTA SPLITS TWO GAMES AT SIERRA COLLEGE

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team split its two games on the week, falling to Sierra 78-75 in overtime and beating Solano 83-72 in the George Soto Classic.

The Knights made at least 10 3-pointers in both games and are now averaging 10 made 3-pointers per game across the five-game season.

Sierra 78, Shasta 75 (OT)
The Knights were outscored 39-30 in the second half and fell by three points in overtime. Josiah Palumbo scored a team-best 23 points as part of the Knights' 35 points off the bench. Derek Gorden scored 14 points to go with a team-high five rebounds, Samer Khalil scored 18 points and dished three assists. Shasta was 11-of-30 from 3-point range in the game. Bekdoo Lewis chipped in with five rebounds and Dilrajveer Sahota added eight points.

Shasta 83, Solano 72
Shasta jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead with a 49-point first half as four Knights scored in double-figures. Gorden paced the Knights with 20 points, Khalil scored 15 points, Sahota added 13 points, Simmer Singh added 10 points and Adam Shoff contributed nine points. The Knights were 13-of-30 from downtown in the game and shot 54 percent from the field.

Shasta (3-2) hosts the Shasta College Invitation this week, opening up against Cabrillo Thursday before playing American River Friday and Merritt on Saturday.
