Men's Basketball Tops Napa Valley, 85-62 in Final Game of Renegade Classic

Bakersfield, CA – Fresh off a win last night over visiting Cuesta College in the opening game of the 2019 Renegade Classic, the Bakersfield College Men's Basketball team faced Napa Valley College on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 85-62 win.

Napa Valley, coming off a loss to Cerro Cosso the previous night, matched the Bakersfield pace until mid-way through the first half when the Renegades managed to pull ahead with a 5 point lead. 22-17. The Renegades pushed the lead to 10 with five minutes left, but Napa Valley managed to whittle the lead back down to five at the break 45-40.

Bakersfield came out again strong offensively in the second half pushing the lead to 14 at 57-43 with 16:39 left. The Renegade tempo only increased as Vince Damelio hit a three with 4:45 left to go up by 20, 76-56. Down the stretch Bakersfield performed well defensively as they held Napa to just 22 second half points.

Leading Bakersfield offensively was both Isayas Aris and Saintfilson Vincent with 15 points each. Tyrell Coleman chipped in 14.

With the win, the Renegades improve to 5-0 on the young season. They will next play at home this coming Wednesday, Nov. 27th against West Hills Coalinga at 5pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was move to Wednesday due to Renegade Volleyball hosting Chaffey in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Volleyball playoffs.
