Coming off a big win Wednesday, Citrus College kept rolling and grabbed a 92-66 victory over the College of the Canyons Saturday.

The Fighting Owls improved to 18-8 overall and 10-2 in the Western State Conference with its fourth-straight victory, remaining in first place. The Cougars drop to 9-15, 2-10 with the loss.

Tyree Winborn had another monstrous night, scoring 39 points (13-of-25) in 24 minutes of action. Kendal Frey followed with 15 points (4-for-8) and Leonard Turner chipped in 13 points (4-for-5).

Frey also led the Owls' rebounding efforts, grabbing 13 boards for the double-double and help Citrus out-rebound Canyons 41-to-38.

Citrus scored the first four points of the night, but didn't get some separation until it went on a 21-0 run to jump out to a 27-8 lead. Winborn bookended the scoring spree with back-to-back treys and a coast-to-coast layup to give the Owls the 21-point upper hand with still over 10 minutes before the break.

The Cougars tried to rally back and pulled within 15 points, 35-20, but Winborn had an and-one and a jumper to put the Owls' lead back into the 20-point range, 40-20.

Canyons opened the second half with a 9-0 run to force a Citrus timeout. The Owls regrouped and created some separation with 10:54 left to play when Winborn rattled in a shot from beyond the arc and followed with an and-one opportunity to put Citrus in front 75-53.

The Owls coasted the rest of the way to seal the 92-66 victory with two games left to play before postseason. Citrus heads to Antelope Valley on Wednesday before closing out the regular season at home on Friday, Feb. 21. Both games set to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
