After nearly a two-year wait, the FC men's basketball team opened up the 2021-22 season at home Monday night flexing some muscle with an 88-70 win over L.A. Trade Tech.
The game got off on the right foot for Fullerton as the first basket was a three-pointer by Collin Reed.
At 14:08 Ronnie Stapp hit a jumper to put the Hornets up 10-7. From there, Fullerton went on a 9-3 run (19-10) that was topped off by a Tristan Willams layin by 10:43.
The Hornets never let up holding a decent lead throughout the first half. By the time both teams headed for their respective locker rooms, FC held a 49-29 advantage.
The second half saw Fullerton grab its largest lead of 32 by the 11-minute mark on a couple of free-throws by Javon Jones.
Fullerton's bench scoring was distributed with efficientcy as the team out-scored the Beaver bench 41-23, while out-rebounding them 41-35.
Leading the way for the Hornets was Collin Reed with 12 points, while Chazz Hutchison and Ronnie Stapp followed with 11. Stapp added 5 rebounds. There were three players that scored 8 points in Javon Jones, Tristan Williams, and RJ Banks. Ryan Blackmon and RJ Johnson both totaled 7 points. Kobe Newton helped out with 6 points along with 6 rebounds, and Sean Newman Jr. put up 5 points with 4 assists on the night.
