(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team opened the newly renamed Gene Victor Memorial Classic with a big win over Grossmont, 81-57 Friday afternoon (November 12).
Three players were in double figures, with sophomore forward Jamal Edmonson (8-10 FGM-A, 2-4 3Pt-A) leading the way with a game-high 19 points. Freshmen guard Justyn Hunter (6-9 FGM-A) and Shaquil Bender (6-11 FGM-A, 1-4 3Pt-A) added 13 points each.
Freshman forward Matthew Brown (4-8 FGM-A) and freshman guard Noah Laurie (3-7 FGM-A) scored eight and seven points, respectively.
Mt. SAC doubled up on Grossmont with a 46-23 first half to get out to a big lead and held a one-point, 35-34 second half for the 24-point win.
In the other opening game in the four-team tourney, Golden West College defeated Glendale, 77-68.
