COD Men’s Basketball wraps up 2019-20 season with win over Coyotes, 75-72

COD (19-8; 9-7) exacted some revenge on the visitors, after losing at their place earlier in the season by three, the Roadrunners ended the 2019-20 season by defeating the Cerro Coso Coyotes of Ridgecrest (15-13; 7-9) by three, 75-72.

Prior to the game, Desert honored its seven sophomore players with a poster photo collage, along with having family and friends join them on the court. Once the game started, it was all business.

Sophomore starting forward Kavonte Kinney (Cathedral City H.S.) led all Desert scorers with his 13th double-double of the season, scoring 19 points on 6 of 13 shots, including going 5 of 6 from the free throw line and snagging 13 boards to lead both teams. Kinney would also lead the team in assists, with five.

Sophomore starting guard Sam Skipper (Perris H.S.) added 15 points for his 19th double-digit scoring night of the season, including going 3 of 5 from beyond three-point range.

Sophomore starting forward Kristopher Howard (Palm Springs H.S.) would add ten points on 4 of 7 shooting and sophomore starting guard John Rich (Palm Springs H.S.) would add nine points on 3 of 9 shooting in the win.

Sophomore guard Sylvester Franklin (Palm Springs H.S.) would lead all bench scorers with 10 points, on 3 of 5 shooting, including going 2 for 2 from beyond the arc.
