Iyawe & Huddleston Help Keep Game Within Reach

CRC Hawks (9-15, 3-8) @ #28 Diablo Valley College (17-8, 10-3)

@ Diablo Valley College

Pleasant Hill, Calif – Cosumnes River (9-15, 3-8) battled back-and-forth for much of the first half. The game started with both teams answering each other. DVC hit a three to start the game, and then Kenneth Cooley responded with a three of his own. After a DVC score, Andre Huddleston nailed a jumper to tie it back up. The Vikings scored again, and Cooley made it 7-7 on a drive in the lane. Diablo Valley's largest lead was seven at 19-12. Later in the half, CRC kept it close at 36-33 when Alex Huber snagged an offensive rebound and putback. The Hawks went in to halftime down 40-33.

In the second frame, the Vikings moved their largest lead to 44-34, but CRC quickly cut the deficit with consecutive threes by Huber and Terrell Garner. The Hawks kept the game within reach.

Center Dillon Iyawe was a force in the last 20 minutes of play with a solid double-double of 13pts/13rbs. With Huddleston's consistent scoring over the last 4 games (including tonight), he was able to get his teammates involved offensively with 6 assists (collected a game-high 22 points as well).

CRC got as close as 64-58 with the possession, but an untimely turnover led to a DVC three. From there, the deficit was too much for the comeback. The Hawks took the loss 74-65.

The Hawks return home to face Modesto Junior College this Friday 5:30pm.
