West Valley and Cuesta were tied 12-12 with 12:24 left in the opening half. 12:23 later, Sufyan Elkannan banked in a half-court buzzer-beater and the Vikings had a 47-24 lead. The 35-12 run fueled a 108-64 win for WVC heading into the Christmas break.

The Vikings stayed hot in the second half, taking a 30-point 67-37 lead on an Ignacio Bettinelli and-one with 11:50 left. All 15 Vikings saw action, with five scoring in double figures.

Elkannan paced the scorebook with a game-high 19 points, followed by 17 each from Adam Afifi and Mahmoud Fofana, and 13 from Quinn Denker.The Vikings drained nine treys, including two apiece from Elkannan, Leland Estacio and Noah Yang.

West Valley (11-2) has next week off and then hosts Skyline (6-5) on New Year's Eve. Tipoff is 3:00pm.
