Mahmoud Fofana's game-high 22 points, along with 20 from Adam Afifi, lifted West Valley to a methodical 92-62 takedown of Hartnell Friday night in Salinas. Playing for the second straight game without four Vikings due to COVID concerns, Friday night's contest ended up much the same way as Wednesday's 85-66 WVC win at Monterey Peninsula.

As they did against the Lobos, Fofana and Afifi were stout on both ends of the court, especially in the opening twenty minutes. Fofana canned 14 and Afifi 11, as the Vikings grabbed a 41-30 halftime lead.

Sufyan Elkannan took charge after the break, scoring 14 points on a pair of three-pointers, two layups and four free throws. West Valley (16-3, 4-0 Coast-South) outscored the Panthers (7-9, 1-1) 51-32 in the second half, with all nine Vikings seeing considerable playing time.

Elkannan, Ben Baker and Quinn Denker followed Fofana and Afifi in the scorebook with 16, 10 and 10 points respectively. Tyler Watters had six points, all in the second half, while Anyel Ortiz finished with five, all in the first half. Tyler Biddison paced the Panthers with 20 points.

The Vikings return to Saratoga Wednesday (1/26) for a crucial game against San Jose City (16-3, 2-1). Tipoff is 7:00pm. Spectators will not be allowed, but the game will be livestreamed on the West Valley College Athletics YouTube channel:
