SANTA MARIA – Trey Booker scored a game-high 24 points while Jordan McGriff added 19 points to lead Lemoore College in a narrow 65-62 loss at Allan Hancock College on Saturday.
A late second-half rally saw the Golden Eagles take the lead but they couldn't hold on for the win. Lemoore trailed 41-32 at halftime before a 13-0 run midway through the second quarter finally put them out in front. A dunk by Booker tied up the game while moments later another dunk from Booker gave Lemoore a 61-59 advantage with 3:32 to play.
But the Bulldogs responded with a run of their own, outscoring the Golden Eagles 6-1 over the rest of the contest to hand them the defeat.
Booker added 4 rebounds as well as a block and a steal while McGriff totaled 5 boards and 2 assists. Samuel Dormond chipped in with 7 points and DeShawn Shears contributed 5 points and 7 rebounds.
The loss dropped Lemoore to 4-10 overall. The Golden Eagles will look to snap a seven-game losing streak on Wednesday (Jan. 8) when they open Central Valley Conference play at home against Reedley College. Game time is 7 p.m. at Golden Eagle Arena.
