EL CAJON — The last time that the Griffins and Imperial Valley played in El Centro, the Griffins made 21 three-pointers and posted a school record 127 points.

On Monday, Feb. 13, in a make-up game from Jan. 30, Grossmont (10-16, 5-10 PCAC) only made ten three-pointers.  But the Griffins still won 101-71 in the only Southern California game on the schedule in the CCCAA.

Elijah Williams scored a game-high, and personal career-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field.  Samuel Stewart IV had a double-double and nearly had the first triple-double for Grossmont in many years.  Stewart IV had 20 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.  Also joining the duo in double figures was Brandon Tully (13 points), Tyrone Lester Jr. (11 points) and DeAndre Allison (10 points).

Coach Doug Weber was pleased with the Griffins performance.  "We played well and nearly hit all of our metrics."  The metrics that coach was referring to are, 100 shots (91 shots on Monday), 50-percent from behind the three-point arc (38 shots, 41.8-percent), get 33-percent of the offensive rebound opportunities (25, 43.1-percent), force 32 turnovers (24 on Monday) and take 30 more shots than the opponent (24 more).

The Griffins started quick!  The first shot of the game was a three by Williams and the Green and Gold didn't slow down from there.

In the first half, Imperial Valley (0-24, 0-14 PCAC) held their largest lead of the night at five points.  On the other hand, the Griffins held a 35-point lead.  Of the eight team categories, Grossmont won all of them.  Rebounds (+16), Assists (+16), points off turnovers (+28), turnovers (-15), 2nd chance points (+9), fastbreak points (+20), bench points (+10, IVC only had three bench players).

With only one game left on their schedule, the Griffins are in the top five in six different categories for the entire State.  Those categories are: made three-pointers, offensive rebounds (where they have a five rebound advantage), total rebounds, steals, shots (only school to have over 2,000 shots) and defensive turnovers.

The Griffins will finish the season on Friday, Feb. 17 when they host San Diego Mesa at 5:00 p.m.
