Johnson double-double leads No. 5 Las Positas to 77-56 win over Merritt

Freshman Jordahn Johnson had another big game for Las Positas College, sparking the Hawks off the bench with a double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds in a 77-56 non-conference win over visiting Merritt College on Saturday.

Las Positas, ranked No. 5 in the Northern California preseason rankings, is 4-1 to open the season. The Hawks' lone loss came in overtime in the season opener.

The Hawks took care of the basketball in the contest, committing just eight turnovers while 53 percent from the field. LPC had an 11-point lead at halftime (43-32) and outscored Merritt 34-24 in the second.

Domonick Victor was solid once again for Las Positas, scoring 17 points. Lee Jones, Jr. added 13 points while Brandon Fisher contributed 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The Hawks return to action on Friday (Nov. 19) when they will play on the road for the first time this season. LPC is at Napa Valley College for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
