
OXNARD, Calif. – Will Pace made a layup with 3:29 remaining to bring Santa Barbara within a single possession, but Oxnard College held on for a 57-48 win over the Vaqueros.
Kyle Haughy returned to the lineup after taking an elbow just above the eye on Jan. 15 against Ventura College.
Haughy's eight first-half points helped keep things close as Santa Barbara trailed 27-25 at halftime.
Nick Tjaden assisted on Pace's basket with 3:29 left to bring the Vaqueros within three, 49-46.
However, Oxnard responded with an 8-2 run to close out the game and secure the win.
James Reach scored a game-high 17 points, hitting two 3-pointers while adding four rebounds and two steals.
Haughy finished with 12 points, while Phoenix White grabbed eight rebounds and Tjaden handed out four assists.
The Vaqueros are now 7-17 and will look for their first conference win Saturday at Ventura College.
