Eagles Race Past Palo Verde on Sophomore Night

The MSJC men's basketball team celebrated sophomore night Wednesday with a big home win over Palo Verde 117-89.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and fought their way to a 51-44 halftime lead behind the hot three-point shooting of Corion Long and Gary Dotson. Both Dotson and Long connected on four first half threes. In all MSJC made 11 of 18 long range shots in the opening half.

In the second half MSJC used an up-tempo attack to score 66 points on their way to victory. Eight Eagles finished the night in double figures led by 24 points from Elijah Edwards who also grabbed 10 rebounds. Dotson finished the night with 15 points while Long and James Freeman IV had 14 each. Armani Battiste had 13 points and 11 boards while RJ Dawson and Kameron Manning-Fuimaono added 10 each. Adrian Mosley nearly had a triple double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.

The team honored their 2025 sophomores prior to the start of the contest. Six Eagles were recognized for their contributions to the program. Edwards, Battiste, Long, Freeman, Stephen Morgan, and Isaiah Robinson, who grabbed 9 rebounds and passed out 10 assists, were all playing their final home game of their Eagle careers.

The team improved to 10-17 overall on the season and are 6-9 in conference play after the victory. The Eagles will play their final game of the year on Friday when they travel to Victor Valley for a 7 pm contest.
