SCC Defeats Santa Ana 100-80 to Secure 25th Win of Season
Santiago Canyon College got back to their winning ways with a 100-80 victory over Santa Ana.
Santiago Canyon College got back to their winning ways with a 100-80 victory over Santa Ana on Wednesday night. With the win, the Hawks' record improves to 25-2 on the season and 13-2 in conference play. The Hawks started fast in this game, but the Dons answered back early as the teams exchanged baskets on both ends of the court. Antoine Jenkins led the way in the half with 19 points on 7 for 11 shooting. Paul Vilela was hot from beyond the arc as he connected on all four of this three-point attempts and added 14 points in the half. David Agba collected 6 rebounds in the half to lead SCC in that department. With the hot shooting and offensive execution, SCC scored 62 points and held a 62-46 advantage at the half.
The Hawks built a 20-point lead in the second half and maintained a comfortable lead throughout. SCC was led in scoring by Jenkins with a game-high 33 points, including four threes. He also had 7 assists and 4 steals. Vilela and Agba both finished with 16 points on the evening. A.J. Garrity contributed 12 points as well. Leading the way in total rebounds was Agba with 10, who also recorded 4 steals. Vilela led the team with 8 assists. The Hawks connected on 15 three-pointers and finished 11 for 12 from the free throw line. They recorded 22 assists in the game as well.
Next up for the Hawks is an away game at Irvine Valley College on Friday, which will be the last game of the regular season. Game time is 7pm.
