Going into Wednesday's conference game against San Diego City, the MiraCosta men's basketball team had positioned themselves to finish second in confererence and have a strong chance at earning a bid to the CCCAA state playoffs.  Despite playing the conference leading Knights evenly, they fell short of the victory when a City College player made a basket as time expired.

MiraCosta, who led by nine at halftime, had four players finish with double digit scoring.  The high scorers include Julian Williams (17), Patrick McLachlan (15), Carter Plousha (14) and Jordan Campbell (10).

Although the win would've locked the Spartans into 2nd place, they still can get there will two wins next week, against Miramar College and Mesa College.

MiraCosta is next in action on Monday night at home hosting the Miramar College Jets. Tip off is set for 7PM.
