Men’s Basketball Drops Mid-Week Game to West LA

Santa Monica College lost to West LA College Wednesday night 93-76.  West LA used a strong finish to pull away from the SMC Corsairs over the final 5 minutes of the game.

SMC fell behind early in the game by as much as 10 points in the first half, but battled back to make the half time score 43-39.  #30, Maxwell Moses, opened the second half with a quick 3-point shot to bring SMC within 1 point.

For the next ten plus minutes of game time, West LA would push the lead to 6 or 7 points only to see the Corsairs storm back and keep the game within one score.  Santa Monica got a few fast break baskets from #22, Quinn Collins and #23, Eli Degrate.  Chianti Clay Jr, #21 also added a few 3-pointers and a timely steal to help fuel the SMC scoring.

With 4:30 left in the game West LA pushed the lead to 79-68 and never looked back.

This was the Corsairs 2nd game in 48 hours and they turn-around and play a 3rd home game in a row this Saturday at 1pm.
