
Men's Basketball Edges Oxnard in Overtime Thriller
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team pulled off a 66-65 overtime win over Oxnard College at home in the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday evening. | BOX SCORE
The game proved to be a tale of two halves throughout regulation. Both teams came out firing, with Oxnard (11-6, 3-3 WSC) putting up 28 points in the first half, matching Hancock's 28-point effort. The second half saw an offensive surge from both squads, but it was the defensive effort by the Bulldogs (15-8, 5-2 WSC) in the final minutes that made the difference.
As a team, Coach Aye's crew managed to score 36 points in the paint while outrebounding the visiting Condors by 10. Hancock's bench was also a major factor in the victory as they went on to outscore Oxnard's reserves, 17-3.
AHC's Arlind Konjuhi led the way with 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals after shooting 6-for-14 from the field. Ay-Keen Richardson added 17 points and three rebounds, while Mykel Valrie contributed 11 points and grabbed five boards off the bench. TJ Hollinger was a force inside, grabbing 13 rebounds, including several crucial defensive stops down the stretch.
The Bulldogs are set to continue conference play on Wednesday, February 5th, with a road trip to Cuesta College.
