KNIGHTS POUND FEATHER RIVER, LASSEN

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team beat Feather River College 88-71 on Wednesday and took down Lassen 90-74 on the road Saturday to stay perfect in Golden Valley Conference play.

The Knights were deadly from 3-point range on the week, shooting 22 of 42 (52 percent) and were 20 of 24 from the free throw line.

The Knights led 48-32 at half, shot 50 percent from 3-point range (9 of 18) and outrebounded the Golden Eagles 44-31, including grabbing 18 offensive boards. Derek Gorden led the way for Shasta with 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Josiah Palumbo and Bekdoo Lewis each scored 14 points off the bench while Simmer Singh scored 13 points and Samer Khalil scored 11 points to go with four assists and four steals.

Shasta put up 52 points at halftime for a 19-point lead and benefitted from another strong shooting night. The Knights tied a season-high with 13 made 3-pointers, getting five from Gorden and four from Adam Shoff. Gorden tallied 22 points and four steals, Shoff finished with 12 points and four assists, Palumbo contributed 12 points and four assists and Singh scored 10 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

The Knights (13-10) have won six straight games – all GVC contests – and lead the conference.
