Wildcats Withstand Owls

In a battle of the Western State Conference-South's top two teams, No. 6-ranked West LA held out for a 68-66 win over No. 13-ranked Citrus College.

The Owls slip to 17-6 overall and 8-2 in conference with the loss. The Wildcats improve to 18-3 on the year and remain undefeated in WSC-South action with a 9-0 mark.

Leonard Turner led the Owls with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Jayden Johnston added 12 points and Cedric Reed chipped in another 11 points. Hayden Dykstra came up big off the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds in the game.

Citrus came into the game averaging 86.5 points per game, while West LA boasted an 83.0 ppg average and it the game proved to bring the excitement.

It came down to the wire, but the buzzer-beating shot didn't fall for the Owls to hand the Wildcats the two-point victory.

The Owls remain at home to host Santa Monica College on Wednesday, tipping off at 5 p.m.
