Sharp-shooting Falcon men coast past CRC in Big 8 opener

The Folsom Lake men's basketball team found Cosumnes River College's Clark Court much to liking on Wednesday night as they made 61% of their three-pointers (14-of-23) on their way to a 82-61 win over the Hawks.  After intially falling behind the Hawks, the Falcons quickly found their long-distance shooting stroke and took a 30-point lead (60-30) into the locker room after 20 minutes.  With the big cushion, Falcons' coach Bill Benford was able to empty his bench for the second half as his team generally coasted to victory.

Sophomore forward Pierce Rexford had another big night, scoring 27 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  He's averaging a double-double (21.3 points/10 rebounds) for the season; over the last four games he's hit 71% of his 3's (15-of-21) and averaged 29 points.  Rexford had scoring help from sophomore Jaylen Solich (16 points), Yaadvir Dhaliwal (14 points), and Cameron Wall (12 points).

The Falcons (7-5, 1-0 in Big 8) won for the fourth straight time and are off until Tuesday (Dec 28) when they host Modesto (4-9, 1-0) at 7:30 pm.
