MEN'S BASKETBALL: WALT SIMON CLASSIC WRAPS UP

The No. 4 Hornets wrapped up the 1st Annual Walt Simon Basketball Classic with a nice win tonight over No. 13 San Diego City 88-77.

Saturday's earlier games had Citrus going undefeated against West Hills 75-63, and No. 7 Saddleback defeating San Diego Mesa 89-57.

Like rematch of the 2017 CCCAA Championship game, both the Knights and Hornets battled it out matching one another shot for shot. With Fullerton up by a slim margin of 27-26 at the 4 minute mark, Lance Coleman II slashed in for a layup igniting a 10-4 run that put FC up 37-30 with just over 2 minutes left in the first half.

At the start of the second half, the Hornets had a 39-33 edge over the Knights. By 7:52, Fullerton took their largest lead of 21 (75-54) on a three-pointer by Coleman II.

From there, the Hornets kept their distance from one of the stronger teams in the state and held on for the win.

Lance Colemen II had his best game as a Hornet scoring a game-high 31 points with 7 boards. Ezekial Alley dropped in 18 points, and Ronne Readus scored 14 points with 13 rebounds for a double-double. Rodrick McCobb also played a role in the win scoring 13 points with 8 rebounds. Jailen Moore put up 8 points.

Up Next: The Hornets (3-1 overall) will hit the road against Mt. San Jacinto College on Wednesday, November 21st at 7:00 pm.
