Compton, Calif. - Freshmen Derrius Ennis and Jaylen Million counted 18 points each but the Tartars (2-9) fell short, 81-79, against West LA (10-4) in an overtime thriller on Tuesday evening in the second round of the Compton Tartar Classic.
Ennis counted his first double-double of the season with a game-high 13 rebounds and made the game-tying jump shot in regulation with 22 seconds remaining. Million came off the bench, adding a pair of assists and blocks in his 29 minutes.
Sophomore L'kielynn Taylor earned his sixth double-figure points game with 12, posting game-high numbers in assists (6) and steals (4).
The men's basketball team has an extended break before heading to Copper Mountain (12-4) on Saturday, Dec. 30 for a 6 p.m. tip.
