Four starters scored in double figures and the GCC Men's Basketball Team led almost wire to wire as they beat Bakersfield College 65-54 Saturday Jan. 18 to 2-1 in the WSC South and 8-9 overall. The game was played in the new Vaquero gym after the usual game site, the Verdugo Gym, sustained damage during the high winds last week.
Winners of two straight conference game, the Vaqs were led in scoring by freshman Nigel Dickens with 22 points and added five rebounds. Noah Smith had 16 points, Aziz Muhammad had 12 points and a game high10 rebounds, six steals and two blocked shots and Tyson Jackson had 10 points and eight rebounds.
GCC continues conference play at L.A. Valley College at 7 pm Wednesday Jan. 22 and host Antelope Valley College at 1 pm Saturday Jan. 25.
