Despite scoring 100 points, Men's Basketball falls at Citrus, attention now turns to defense of WSC North crown
The Raider Men's Basketball team traveled to Glendora in their last non-conference action to take on Citrus College. Despite scoring 100 points, the Raiders couldn't overcome the Owl's relentless offensive attack, falling 119-100. The Raiders will now turn their attention to defending their WSC North crown, opening up conference play at Santa Barbara.
In the opening half at Citrus, the game got off to an auspicious start as a double foul was called before the jump ball. Both teams exchanged baskets in the first 6 minutes to make the score 15-15. The Owls went on a 45-29 shooting tear in the last 14 minutes to take a 60-43 halftime lead. Citrus shot 64% from the floor and 52% from beyond the 3 point arc.
In the second half, the Raiders played Citrus evenly but the Owls were able to continue their hot shooting throughout the 2nd half. The Raiders shot 53% from the floor to Citrus' 65% but only shot 37% from beyond the arc compared to the Owl's 56%.
Reese Widerberg led the Raiders with 25 points. Jordan Torres scored 22 points. Isaiah Sherrard added 19 points with 9 rebounds.
The Raiders are now 10-6 on the year. They will travel to Santa Barbara on Wednesday, 1/8 at 7p to open WSC North action. They will come back and host Ventura on Saturday, 1/11 at 3p.
