Men’s Basketball: Slow start hurts Rio Hondo in loss to No. 25 Mt. SAC

WHITTIER --- Matthew Turner-Bigbee scored a season-high 21 points to lead Rio Hondo College in a 95-76 South Coast Conference North Division loss to visiting No. 25 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday.

A short-handed Roadrunners squad played with just five players the entire game. Mt. SAC opened the contest with an 11-0 run and outscored Rio Hondo 48-32 in the first half.

Turner-Bigbee added 5 rebounds and 2 steals to his impressive night. Sebastian Lara totaled 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Alwyn Saddler IV had 15 points, Chris Herrera added 14 points, while Andre Batiste contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Rio Hondo fell to 1-20 overall and 0-4 in the SCC North Division. The Roadrunners return to action on Friday (Feb. 11) when they travel to Pasadena City College for a 5 p.m. game.
