Cagers Fall In Santa Cruz and Make for the Border

Men's Basketball was the only Cuesta team in action last week as the cagers made their way up the coast to play Cabrillo College on Saturday.  The host Seahawks defended their home court in a decisive victory, 77-56.  Cabrillo took advantage of the Cougars as soon as they came off the bus and built a 21-point lead before the intermission (43-22).  Cuesta was unable to make a dent in the Seahawks lead, but did play even the rest of the way as each team netted 34 points in the second half.  Returning Freshman Center Logan Knuckles (Atascadero HS) and Sophomore Point Guard Japjit Gill (Union City) tied for the team lead with ten points each, while Knuckles also led the team with six rebounds. The loss drops the Cougars to 2-4 on the season.

Cuesta travels to El Cajon this weekend for the Grossmont Tournament.  The Cougars open the three-day tournament against #2 West Valley on Friday (8 PM).  The Vikings are currently undefeated at 5-0.  The Cougars will play either host Grossmont or LA Trade-Tech in Saturday's semi-final round.
