Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball Falls to Santiago Canyon, 73-58 in PCC Tourney

(Pasadena, CA) A big second half by Santiago Canyon led to a 73-58 opening-game win over the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Team in the Skip Robinson Classic at Pasadena City College Thursday afternoon.

The Mounties (1-3), who led by six at the half (37-31), were outscored 42-21 in the second half.

Mt. SAC, which opened the season 1-2 at the City College of San Francisco Tip-off Tourney, faces Barstow (0-5) in the consolation bracket at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Guard Todd Rigsby led the Mounties (3-8 FGM, 2-4 FTM, 8 RB, 2 Stl.) with 15 points, followed by 10 points each from forward Myles Allen (4-5 FGM, 2-3 FTM, 8 RB, 2 Blk.) and guard Yahshua Smith (8 Asst.).

Guard Daniel DeJoya (2-4 FGM, 1-1 3PM, 2-2 FTM) added seven points for the Mounties, while Akinola Branco (2-5 FGM, 4 RB) and forward Keith Stewart scored six points each.

The Mounties biggest lead (27-18) of the game came with 7:09 left in the first half, but after the break Santiago Canyon went on a 26-10 run and built up a 10-point, 57-47 lead.

In the 2017 PCC Classic the Mounties were the consolation champions.
