SHASTA DOWNS SISKIYOUS, BUTTE TO STAY UNBEATEN IN GVC

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team stayed perfect in Golden Valley Conference play, hammering College of the Siskiyous 81-60 at home and going on the road to beat Butte College 94-81 on Saturday.

Shasta 81, Siskiyous 60
The Knights led 41-30 at half, made 11 3-pointers and shot 16 of 19 from the free throw line in the game. Derek Gorden was one of four Knights in double figures, leading the way with 17 points and three steals. Josiah Palumbo scored 12 points and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds coming off the bench, Simmer Singh scored 12 points and Adam Shoff chipped in with 10 points.

Shasta 94, Butte 81
Shasta turned in a season-high in points in the victory and led 46-33 at half. The Knights shot 59 percent from the floor (34 of 58) and made a season-best 20 free throws. Palumbo tied his season-best 23 points to go with six rebounds, Samer Khalil added 17 points and three assists and Singh contributed 16 points. Gorden came away with a team-best seven rebounds.

The Knights have won four straight games – all GVC contests – and host Feather River College next. The Knights won the earlier meeting 69-59.
