MBB: Eagles Pick Up Road Win to Keep Pace In IEAC Race

The MSJC men's basketball team fought through a very competitive first half on Friday night and pulled out a road win in Barstow over the Vikings 71-60.

The Eagles led by just one at the half 34-33 as the Vikings came out from the tip making shots.  Barstow made 7 of their first 9 shots to build a lead of as much as 9, before the Eagles responded to take the halftime lead.  In the second MSJC started fast building a double digit lead, before Barstow made on last run to tie the game at 48 a piece.  From there MSJC methodically wore down the Vikings to pull away for the victory, leading by as much as 17 with under 3 minutes to play.

Danilo Da Silva led the Eagle offense in scoring as he made 6 three point shots on his way to 18 points.  Anton Mozga recorded his 14th double double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Ethan Bell added 13 points and a game high 7 assists for the Eagles while Josh Hardiman came off the bench to go 5 of 6 from the field on his way to 12 points.  Isaiah Skinner just missed double figures with 8 points and Mekhi Hill helped the Eagles dominate the boards as he pulled in a season high 11 rebounds.

The win improved MSJC to 14-9 overall and 9-3 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  The team has a busy week as they play three times, the first two will be at home on Monday and Wednesday, before traveling to San Bernardino on Saturday.  Monday the Eagles host Chaffey, Wednesday Palo Verde will the opponent, both home games are scheduled for 7 pm.
