The series of storms that pummeled the Bay Area recently may have receded, but it was raining threes Wednesday night in Saratoga. West Valley connected on 19 three-pointers from seven different players - 11 in the first half - to pound De Anza 95-56 in Coast-South Conference action.

The Mountain Lions (2-17, 0-4 Coast South) grabbed a 2-0 lead 1:45 in, but were never to lead again. Jeremiah Dargan canned the first of his five threes for a 3-2 WVC lead and the Vikings put the pedal to the metal offensively and their swarming defense limited De Anza to only 17 more first half points. So stifling was the WVC "D" that all 19 Mountain Lions points were scored by only two players, Tim Oldham (12) and Isaiah Frazier (7).

The offense was operating at warp speed in the opening half. Their 11 three-pointers came from five different players, with Dargan and Nick Attanasio leading the way with three apiece. Baron Bracey and Ariya Briscoe added two treys each, while Aaron Ragen hit one that gave the Vikings a 32-14 lead at 7:32. Malik Patton was a beast off the bench, scoring six points in the paint to help WVC to a 45-19 lead at the break.

West Valley (18-3, 4-1) stayed hot from beyond the arc in the second half, as they hit eight more from distance, including two each from Dargan, Ragen and Ignacio Bettinelli. Attanasio drained another for his third four-trey outing in the last five contests, while Yigit Arcan closed out the scoring with a three with :57 to go. Viking big men Patton and Tyler Watters had big second halves with 12 and eight points, respectively, on dunks and put-backs. A Patton dunk at 8:43 gave WVC its largest lead of the night at 81-51.

Patton finished with a team-high 18 points, followed by 15 from Dargan, 12 from Attanasio, and ten each from Bettinelli and Watters. Oldham paced the Mountain Lions with a game-high 20.

The Vikings travel to Highway 17 rival Cabrillo (9-10, 1-3) Friday (1/20) to wrap up the first half of the Coast-South season. Tipoff is 7:00pm.
