SHASTA COLLEGE SWEPT AT WYNDHAM CLASSIC

VISALIA, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team lost all three games in the College of the Sequoias Wyndham Classic tournament over the weekend.

The Knights were outscored by an average of 29 points per game in the tournament, losing to Ventura 66-45, falling to Cerritos 76-39 and dropping Sunday's contest to Pasadena City 68-39.

Shasta freshman Zach Thompson was named to the all-tournament team, scoring a total of 33 points across the three games and was the only Knight to score in double figures in all three contests.

Ventura 66, Shasta 45
The Knights shot 17 of 61 from the floor (28 percent) and was outrebounded 62-22 in the game. Thompson scored 13 points and sophomore Tanner Guinn scored nine points. Freshman Daniel Kelly chipped in with eight points off the bench.

Cerritos 76, Shasta 39
Shasta was 5 of 16 from 3-point land in the first half but was outscored 45-14 in the second half. The Knights couldn't hold up on the boards, being outrebounded 51-34 and compiling 24 turnovers. Thompson's 10 points paced the Knights while freshman Mike Maasen added eight points off the bench. Andrew Culmer's seven rebounds were a team-high.

Pasadena City 68, Shasta 39
The Knights were outscored 35-13 in the first half, shooting 4 of 36 (11 percent) from the field. Shasta ended up shooting a season-low 20 percent in the game. Kelly's 11 points were a team-best while Thompson scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds and Guinn added seven points off the bench. Tanner Bidwell's three steals were a team-high for the Knights.

Shasta (2-9) is riding a six-game losing streak and hosts Lane Community College of Oregon and Yuba College in the Shasta Crossover on Dec. 28-29.
