AVC Men's Basketball bounced back from a 98-86 home loss to Citrus College on Saturday with an 84-80 road win over College of the Canyons on Monday.
Mister Burnside (26) and Malik Larane (21) lead in scoring against Citrus, while Josef Major (18 pts.,12 reb., 7 ast.) and Tony Corley (10 pts., 12 reb.) both had double-doubles.
In Monday's win over the Cougars, Malik Larane led the way with a game-high 20 points. Mister Burnside followed with 15. Josef Major had 13 points and 4 steals, while Tony Corly had 14 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. AVC shot over 49% from the field while holding Canyons to 44%. Although outrebounded 44-28, the Marauders made up for it by shooting 72% from the free-throw line while Canyons managed 52%.
Tony Corley leads the Western State-South Conference in rebounds per game at 9.4 and is also No. 1 in the conference in Field Goal percentage, shooting 63.3%. Malike Larane leads the Marauders in scoring and is No. 2 in the conference in scoring with 18.9 points per game.
The Marauders are 9-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play. They'll play on the road at Bakersfield before returning home to face West LA on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
