@ Delta College

Stockton, Calif -- The Hawks (7-7, 1-1) started a 3-game stretch this week at San Joaquin Delta College (9-6, 2-1). CRC began the contest with some ups-and-downs.

In the first five minutes, with a mix of quick shots that fell, but some turnovers during that span as well, the Hawks stayed in the game. Giving up some offensive rebounds to Delta and allowing second chance opportunities hurt, and the Mustangs slowly grew a 10-point lead at 33-23 with three minutes left in the half. After a CRC timeout, the Hawks went on a 5-0 run and got a crucial defensive stop as time expired to cut the deficit to 33-28 at the break. CRC went into the locker room with some momentum.

The second half continued neck-and-neck. Freshman shooter Adam Orr was fouled in the corner on a 3pt attempt and made free-throws to cut the deficit to 37-35. The Hawks kept it close for the first ten minutes of the second frame and were down 43-42.

Unfortunately, much like the start of the first half, Cosumnes River had some untimely turnovers and shot quick shots that gave Delta transition basket opportunities. The Mustangs were able to stretch the lead to 67-52 rapidly. That Delta run was too much for the Hawks to come back from, and so CRC dropped this game 77-60.

Freshman forward Christian Hough and sophomore swingman Kenneth Cooley led the team in scoring with 13 points apiece. Orr finished with 12 and Brandon Gray with 11.

The Hawks continue Big8 conference play this week with two more games @ Folsom Lake 1/9 and versus Diablo Valley 1/11.
