RIDGECREST, Calif. – Four Pirates scored in double figures, led by 17 points from Jemarcus Brown, but Porterville College couldn't hold a first-half lead and suffered a 70-67 loss against Victor Valley College on Friday to open the two-day Cerro Coso College Crossover.
The Pirates were in good shape after 20 minutes, holding a 36-28 advantage at halftime. But Victor Valley outscored PC 42-31 in the second half to steal the win.
Brown nearly had a double-double with his season-high 17 points and 9 rebounds. Tarik Dacosta added 15 points and 6 assists, Jaymarion Stewart scored 12 points, and Musa Sillah had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Porterville closed the event on Saturday with a 62-36 loss to host Cerro Coso.
The Pirates fell to 2-6 overall on the season. They are back in action on Friday (Dec. 6) to open the three-day Grossmont College Invitational. PC is set to take on host Grossmont at 6 p.m.
