Citrus Rolls to Third-Straight Win

No. 18-ranked Citrus College kept rolling with its third-straight victory, downing Antelope Valley College 93-61 after shooting an impressive 50.7-percent from the floor.

The Owls improve to 12-5 on the year, 3-1 in Western State Conference action. The Marauders drop to 8-10, 1-4.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Owls, led by the duo of Chris Chiles (8-for-12) and Leonard Turner (6-for-7) who each chipped in 16 points. Chiles flirted with a triple-double, posting nine boards and seven assists on the night to help the Owls win the glass 46-34.

Cedric Reed finished with 14 points (5-for-13), followed by Dylon Davis who added 13 points (3-for-6) and grabbed seven rebounds. Jayden Johnston rounded out the Owls with double-digit points with 10 points (5-for-6).

Citrus almost doubled AVC's points in the paint (64-to-28) and saw 24 points come from the bench.

The Owls opened the night on an 8-2 run as Chiles scored the first basket of the game off a Davis assist. Johnston capped the run with a layup off a Chiles assist after Davis stole the ball away.

AVC briefly took the lead, 14-13, to force Citrus to call a timeout. The Owls tied things up at 18-18 before taking back control of the game.

Holding a 41-25 lead at the half, Citrus started to create some more separation and took its largest lead of the night with less than three minutes left in the game, 90-56, off an Endigo Coleman layup.

The Owls have a busy week next week, hosting three games in six days with Bakersfield College coming to the Owls' Nest first for a 5:00 p.m. game on Monday.
