Playing their first game in 23 days, the Cerritos College men's basketball team posted a 79-71 win at Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Friday. The Falcons (8-6), who have now won three of their last four games, were playing without several of their key players, but had enough firepower to defeat the Beavers (1-12). The team will now open South Coast Conference South Division play next Wednesday when they travel to Los Angeles Southwest College for a 5:00 p.m. start.

In the win over LA Trade-Tech, Cerritos did get double-digit scoring from four of their five starters, including a team-high 21 points and eight rebounds from sophomore Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS). Netting 7-of-14 field goals, Harris also added a pair of three-pointers, as the Falcons converted 8-of-20 shots from long range.

The Falcons took a 10-point lead at halftime (38-28) and held the lead throughout the second half. They were aided by converting 23-of-25 free throws (92%), as Harris and sophomore Juice Belvin (St. Anthony HS) netted all five of their attempts, with sophomore Andre Fields (Warren HS) making all four of his shots from the charity stripe.

Leading the team from long range was freshman Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS), who hit three of four three-pointers and finished the night with 13 points and three rebounds, with Belvin also scoring 13 points off the bench. Fields finished with 12 points and six caroms, with freshman Malik Johnson (Compton HS) finishing the game with 10 points, three rebounds and three blocked shots.
