There isn't an official stat for shots that should go in, but the Vaqueros might have had a season high in that category as they lost 78-56 to Oxnard College on Saturday.
Despite shots not falling, the Vaqueros battled at both ends of the floor. Nick Tjaden recorded eight assists, while Kyle Haughy scored 17 points. Will Pace added 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
At halftime, Oxnard led 33-27. About five minutes into the second half, the Condors still held a slim lead at 39-35. Oxnard then went on a 9-0 run, pulling away from the Vaqueros.
James Reach, Finn Whipps, and Haughy made key baskets after defensive stops to narrow the lead, but the Condors answered with a 15-5 run to seal the win.
Overall, the Vaqueros shot just 39.7 percent from the floor and were 1-for-11 from beyond the arc. Oxnard's shooting percentage from the floor was 48.3 percent and they hit nine 3-points.
The men's basketball team is now 7-11 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. They will look to bounce back Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Ventura College.
