Rexford eclipses FLC scoring record as Falcons roll past Hartnell

The Folsom Lake men used a smothering defense to build a big early lead, then cruised to a comfortable 20-point victory over Hartnell College on Saturday afternoon, winning 100-80 at Falcon Gym.  The Falcons completely frustrated the Panthers early, jumping out to a 14-2 lead on the strength of their stifling defense.  The lead continued to grow throughout the first half, eventually reaching 20 points.

The Falcon offense was led by sophomore forward Pierce Rexford, who poured in 44 points, breaking FLC's individual single-game scoring record of 42 set in 2018 by Zethan Dumpson. Rexford was so hot, at one point he had made 13 of 15 shots, including 5 of 6 from beyond the three point line.  As he approached the 40-point barrier, he missed three in a row before finally eclipsing the record, finishing 14-of-19 (74%) for the game.  He also shot a perfect 11-for-11 on free throws.

Sophomore guard Jaylen Solich added a season-high 16 points (7-of-9) and freshman Dane Johnson shot 4-of-5 for 10 points and had 3 blocked shots.

The Falcons (now 4-5) will host Solano College (2-7) on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm, then travel to Saratoga for the Holiday Classic Tournament at West Valley College on Friday and Saturday.
