Men’s Basketball Falls in Home Opener to Citrus

The Long Beach City College men's basketball team fell to the Citrus College Fighting Owls 61-67 on Wednesday evening in the Hall of Champions in their home opener. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 1-2.

The Vikings started off down from the Fighting Owls and played catch up with the Owls the entire first half. After halftime, the Vikings rallied started to take the lead from Citrus in the second half, but couldnt complete and ended the game with the 61-67 loss.   

Freshman guard Bonard Johnson Jr. led the Vikings with 16 points, three assists and had seven rebounds. Freshman guard Lorenzo Marsh was a force in the paint as he had 10 rebounds for the Vikings. Both freshman forward Shane Hunter and freshman guard Tremond Johnson tallied 10 points each to round out the top scorers for the Vikings.

The Long Beach City College men's basketball team will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 12 at Palomar College at 5:00 p.m.
