SBVC Rebounds With Victory over Copper Mountain

San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball coach Quincy Brewer had a lot to say to his team after its loss to Chaffey on Wednesday.

Saturday, the Wolverines took his message to heart, as they took control in the middle of the game to beat Copper Mountain College 101-87.

After trading baskets early, Copper Mountain opened an early 5-2 lead. But it was at that point, SBVC went on a run. The Wolverines outscored Copper Mountain 22-2 run over the span of about five minutes to take control of the game.

The Wolverines' starting five found the shooting touch that failed them against Chaffey, as four of the five finished in double figures. The team was led by Darius Carr, who dropped in a game-high 24 points with eight assists, while big man Jason Hilliard was 8-for-10 from the field for 17 points. Khemanni Davis ended the game with 13 points, while Jason Lee finished with 12 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds. Roland McDougal had 10 points off the bench for SBVC.

Copper Mountain rallied in the second half from the free throw line, as the Fighting Cacti were 14-18 from the charity stripe in the second half, while SBVC only attempted five free throws for the entire game.
