SAN FRANCISCO – Top-ranked City College of San Francisco is headed back to the state tournament after a one-year absence. On Saturday, the No. 1-seeded Rams dispatched No. 8 San Jose City College by a final score of 80-70 in a third-round Northern California Regional Playoffs game at home.

CCSF used another balanced attack for the postseason victory. The Rams held a 40-31 halftime advantage and was able to hold off the Jaguars over the final 20 minutes.

Rickey Mitchell Jr. led with 14 points, King-Njhsanni Wilhite scored 12, and Ray-John Spears added 11 points. Miles Amos totaled 8 points and 6 rebounds while Titus Wilkins also scored 8 points.

The Rams are once again the North's No. 1 seed and will take on South No. 4-seed Cerritos College in their opening-round game of the 2025 3C2A State Championships on Thursday, March 13 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Game time is set for 1 p.m. The winner will advance to face either South No. 2 Citrus College or North No. 3 Las Positas College in Saturday's semifinals.

CCSF brings a state-best 29-1 overall record into the state tournament and is currently riding a 14-game winning streak.

Cerritos, originally the South's No. 11 seed, shocked No. 3 East Los Angeles College 71-69 in its regional final to earn its first trip to the state championships since 2019. The Falcons are winners of eight straight and are 23-8 overall.

Joining the Rams from the North is West Valley (No. 2), Las Positas (No. 3), and Cosumnes River (No. 4). Three of the four squads are from the Coast Conference. The South will be represented by Fullerton (No. 1), Citrus (No. 2), San Bernardino Valley (No. 3), and Cerritos.

CCSF will be back in a familiar place. Prior to last season, the Rams had reached the state championships in eight consecutive seasons. San Francisco last won a state title in 2022 and has captured five in the program's history (1962, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2022).
