The West Valley offense continued its incendiary ways, but it was the Viking defense that stole the show in a dominant 76-43 win over Cabrillo in Aptos. WVC's suffocating interior defense and rebounding, combined with a poor-shooting night from the Seahawks (27.8%), created myriad fast breaks and scoring opportunities for WVC throughout the contest.

Cabrillo (9-11, 1-4 Coast South) had its final lead at 7-6, moments before Jeremiah Dargan dropped seven points, Baron Bracey and Tyler Watters hit a pair of buckets and Ariya Briscoe drained a trey for a 20-10 Viking lead. It was all West Valley from there, as WVC (19-3, 5-1) bolted to a 39-21 lead at the half. Nothing changed after the break, as the Vikings outscored the Seahawks 37-22.

Dargan finished with a game-high 16 points, while Bracey and Malik Patton had 11 each, and Ignacio Bettinelli had 10.

West Valley has a bye Wednesday and then hosts San Jose City (17-4, 4-1) in a monumental Coast contest Friday (1/27). The ball goes up at 5:30pm.
