
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – James Reach scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the Vaqueros are still working on their first conference win as they lost to Cuesta College, 77-53, on Wednesday.
Reach was the leading scorer in the first half, recording 14 points. He converted on seven of his nine shots taken. Unfortunately, the Vaqueros missed on all nine 3-pointers they took in the first half.
Even without shots falling for many of the Vaqueros, they remained focused on their defensive game, recording three steals and a block to go into halftime trailing 36-26.
Will Pace found his jump shot to score nine points in the second half. He finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Off the bench, Phoenix White chipped in six points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Vaqueros.
Santa Barbara is now 7-15 on the season and 0-6 against conference opponents. They look to return to their winning ways on Saturday at Moorpark College.
