The only that can stop a team on a hot streak are the holidays as the Raider Men's Basketball will take a break after winning two games at the Pete Adelman Cross-over to extend their win streak to 8 games.
The road Raiders took on host Mira Costa to open the two day Pete Adelman classic and came away with a 100-95 2OT win. The half ended in a 43-43 halftime score, a 78-78 end of regulation score and it looked like this game would go on for awhile.
In the first overtime, the Raider fell behind early and trailed 85-80 with just under 2 minutes to go and outscored the Spartans 8-3 to force the double overtime, 88-88.
The Raiders opened the 2nd overtime taking a 96-92 lead with just over 3 minutes left and they answered every Spartan attack with a bucket or defensive stop eventually building a 5 point lead with a minute left. Kenji Cooper sealed the win with 4 straight free-throws.
Isaiah Sherrard led the Raiders with a game high 28 points and 8 rebounds. Keji Cooper added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Cooper Lucas added 13 points.
To close out the cross-over, the Raiders took on the Jets of San Diego Miramar and shot down the Jets, 80-55.
The first 10 minutes went as any game would go with both teams feeling each other out with the Raider slowly separating themselves from the Jets, building a 20-12 lead at the 9:54 mark. The Raiders extended their lead to 14 points and closed out the half with a 41-29 lead.
Miramar closed the gap to 5 points early in the 2nd half before the Raiders used a 12-2 run to take a 53-39 lead with 12:31 left. The Raiders closed out the 2nd half with a 19-9 run and get the 80-55 win.
Jordan Torres led the Raiders with a game high 16 points. Justin Rener and Reese Widerburg each scored 12 points, Kenji Coope chipped in 10 points and had 7 rebounds.
The Raiders are currently 10-5 and will take a break before traveling to Citrus on January 5th for their final tune-up before opening defense of their WSC North crown
