MEN'S BASKETBALL: CLAWING PAST PANTHERS

In the last non-conference game of the season, the No. 2 in state Hornets pulled off a 58-47 road win against Chaffey College Friday night.

The Panthers (6-5 overall) were not an easy team to get past as Fullerton trailed throughout most of the first half. Chaffey's largest lead of 7 peaked at the 17-minute mark, but a pair of Ronnie Stapp free throws put FC up 25-24 with 4 minutes left until halftime. By the time both teams hit their respective locker rooms, the Hornets has secured a 32-25 lead.

Fullerton never relinquished the lead in the second half pouncing on the Panthers with a 13-point lead by the end of the game 58-45.

It was a low scoring game where FC shot 37.8% from the floor, while Chaffey was 28.8%. FC hit 25.9% from beyond the arc to Chaffey's 12.1. Depth was the difference-maker in the game as Fullerton's bench out-scored Chaffey's 25-2.

Tawon Elston led the all scorers with a game high 20 points and added 6 rebounds in the win. Stapp scored 11 points and DJ Houston contributed 10 points. Jacob Eyman had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. RJ Knibb put up 5 points with 5 rebounds.
