The Spartans started the new year out with a bang! MiraCosta won their first game of the year against the Santa Ana College Dons with a final score of 73-42. With the win MiraCosta improves to 8-6 overall.

The Spartans were led by sophomore Marcus Foster who broke the game open with three consecutive three point shots. Sophomore Thomas Donati made his presence felt with a double-double, 13 points and 16 rebounds.The Spartans played a fast pace game scoring 40 points in the first half, including a buzzer beating three point shot by sophomore Donald Smith.

MiraCosta also got strong contributions from sophomores Dirk Helaire II and Jonathan Langston who brought defensive intensity and solid decision making. The Spartans shot an impressive 50% from the three point line, 12-24 overall. They also had seven different players make a three point shot in the game.

MiraCosta is next in action tomorrow, Friday January 3rd at 6PM against Fresno City College.
