
The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team outscored Imperial Valley 25-4 in the opening five minutes and never looked back as the Wolverines cruised to a 122-34 victory Friday night.
Darius Carr matched a school record by making 10 3-pointers in the game - eight in the first half - en route to a game-high 34 points, as five players finished in double figures. SBVC's 88-point margin of victory was four points off the school record of 92 set Jan. 18, 2023.
The Wolverines came out with a press defense that put the Desert Warriors on their heels, leading to the early run that put the game out of reach quickly. SBVC forced 16 Imperial Valley turnovers in the opening 20 minutes, with Imperial Valley commiting 29 in the game. The Desert Warriors were limited to 19.6 percent shooting from the field.
Outside of Carr, the Wolverines were firing from beyond the arc all night. Brian Cabrera finished the night with 16 points, going 6-for-10 from the field, including 4-from-8 from 3-point range, with the Wolverines hitting 20 of their 48 three-point attempts.
Jason Hilliard posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Khemanni Davis added 13 points and Jesse Martinez had 12 points off the bench.
The Wolverines now prepare for a showdown against Fullerton on Nov. 20.
